Description: Introduction to thermodynamics for process engineering. The first and second laws of thermodynamics. Application of thermodynamic concepts in closed systems, flow processes and cycles, refrigeration and liquefaction. Classical chemical thermodynamics including concepts of chemical potential, fugacity and activities; their applications to vapour-liquid equilibria and reacting systems. Multi-component physical equilibria. Multiple reaction equilibria and system-free energy minimisation. Practical examples and applications.
