Description: Introduces students to modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin, Putonghua) through exercises and activities to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Also introduces the social and cultural background of the language.

Prerequisites / Restrictions

Restriction: May not be taken if a more advanced language acquisition course in this subject has previously been passed

Reviews

Definitely depends on the lecturer you get, but really fun classes (Xian Zhao 老师 is the GOAT). The projects (video and portfolio) took quite a while to do but it would be extremely easy if you already have video/presentation editing skills. Only thing to complain about would be the weekly character writing assignments which made my hands all sore and gray from all the eraser shavings and pencil lead. Though its a very easy and fun course, 10/10 would take it for a gen ed.
